Ina Kirksey Zellers, born and reared in Lufkin, Texas, calls Houston home. One daughter, Karen Zellers Sevier. Graduate of Texas Southern University with a Master of Arts in Music Education. 40 year career as a teacher of vocal music in the Houston Independent School District. While working at Sterling High School, she successfully coached many students in achieving Division One status in state competitions as well as competitions in Florida, Atlanta, Colorado, South Carolina, and Washington D. C. Many of these students are enjoying and now excelling in their own careers in music. In the latter years of her career she was a consultant/supervisor of fine arts through the non-profit, Project Grad, working in the Davis High School feeder pattern. Her music credits, professional singer, accompanist, and music consultant aided her in the successful recording of an album with the Voices of St. Mary’s of St. Mary’s UMC. And one solo album, Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Formerly, Director of Choirs at Trinity East UMC, she attends and continues to offer her gifts and talents when needed. She is also musician/vocalist with Focus on Faith Ministries and No Greater Love Ministries, board member with Food For Kids, Texas a non-profit organization, Rev. Vickie Keys, founder and CEO. Ina has come to understand that her gift from the Holy Spirit is teaching. Not only does she delight in working with choirs and those who desire to sing or play the piano, she also teaches a Disciple Bible Study course at McKinney UMC in LaMarque, TX.
